Hey everyone,

Got the authorization issue sorted out. Talked to the supervisor at the imaging facility and it turns out I got a newbie and she, in her words, “took the bull by the horns.” I had lost my appointment because she didn’t know I didn’t need an authorization and found out just today that I didn’t need one (talked to an experienced receptionist). Was able to head into my appointment and it ended pretty quickly; only scans. Walked out and the receptionist was confused and thought I was coming back for part two..?? I wasn’t sure what she meant and remembered the tech saying my rheumatologist ordered something specific and that it could go two ways .. 🤷🏼‍♀️? Mentioned this to the supervisor and she is going to look into it and figure out why it was short. Are CT scans supposed to be short, like 5-10mins with two passes of breathing in and holding? I’m not sure what my doc ordered and I assume that it may have been short because it didn’t show anything. Which makes me wonder even more if its my bump, rib cage, and sternum causing me to have difficulty getting a full easy breath and shortness of breath in whatever I’m doing? I’m still technically anemic so that may be it too. I asked for the CD so will share if I can figure out how to get a good picture😁

Edit:

CT is normal, which is good news. No ISLD, or lung mass. Rheumy requested a High resolution CT, not sure if she got one but she isn’t concerned as this one doesn’t show anything. Hoping we find the answer soon. Will be picking up my cd tomorrow and waiting for the MRI to schedule and see if we get more answers. There’s probably only so much that would explain these symptoms.

Yes ct scans are very quick. Usually without contrast is a few minutes and then another minute or so with the contrast if so ordered.

👆This.

They probably thought you might need contrast but for bones, non-contrast CT is perfectly fine. Plus, I feel like the iodine in the contrast sets me off something horrible. I avoid it at all costs.

That could be, I think I got the same rookie that cancelled my first appointment lol. Ooh, it’s good to know and avoid of you can! I got one with an Mri I think it was but couldn’t remember how I felt afterwards.

MRI contrast uses gadolinium and has no iodine. It’s the best imaging modality for a lot of things but also the “most expensivest”. 🤪

I hope it gives a good picture into what is going on

Agh, okay that makes sense and good to know! Maybe the rookie receptionist was confused😄.
