Well, fine folks, this may have been posted before, idk. It could stand repeating.

And

academic.oup.com/rheumap/ar...

This all relates to my mindset after another interaction with medical. My lot in life…like Charlie Brown😳 I think I’m going to take a break from all medical encounters/interventions for awhile for everyone’s well being. Peace out ✌🏾

Thank you for the articles, I think. They came just in time, after a gaslighting rheumatologist appointment yesterday. I say I think, because the match was too close to the PTSD one. I hope the Wizard didn't let you down.

This particular encounter was not with the the Wizard, but a test (MRV) he ordered. A lot of generalized miscommunication and throw in a good dose of reactionary mPTSD and you have the recipe for what happened. I’m not sure how to remedy it. Day 44 of the nuclear ☢️ headache. No relief. No cause, other than presumed at this point Pfizer vaccine side effect. 🤷‍♀️

I have no words other than I feel for you truly, love and best wishes 🤗 so many docs have much to answer for and need holding accountable , you don’t put holes in a sinking ship 💐

Thank you DRunnerchick,

In case anyone's missed it, the chart (and the reference) is from a Lupus UK supported study using evidence from people right here in the forum.

The article on treatment of mPTSD is also really good. I heartily agree with the caution he expresses about CBT approaches. It's so easy to slip from challenging "unhelpful thoughts" (which can be a useful idea) to implying that the problems of mPTSD are located in the person who has it - which is a thoroughly destructive idea. Medical encounters for so many of us are genuinely traumatic, not because of us, but because of the structures and processes involved. If we want to stop so many of us being made sick, we have to change the system.

The system has become a Machiavellian strategy straight out of Hitchcock or Carpenter. You are right…thoroughly destructive and must be changed!

I’m weary.. will regroup to fight another day. 🏴‍☠️

DRunnerchick, Wow! I am printing these out. It is so sad that so many of us can relate. I wish that doctors would read these things and see how they can impact our well being without realizing it and losing our trust. From my own personal perspective, issues from childhood gave me triggers that make me even more susceptible to these types of inconsiderate and negative thoughts. Leaving a doctor's appointment devastated, questioning oneself, feeling unworthy, etc. is one of the worst feelings and the doctor never even knows that it happened. Even the good ones who over all do better still do it unconsciously. What happened to - Do No Harm? I am really glad you shared this.

Healing hugs.

Thanks. 💐They have eviscerating medicine with their “efficiency”. They talk a good talk about seeing the whole patient, but they don’t talk to them anymore. They have research about “setting the agenda” of the appointment” but it actually shows that it’s far worse then we thought, that the interrupt at 3 seconds when if they just left the patient, on average, it would have only been 6 seconds for them to say what they wanted to cover. Deplorable! All in the name of time! Worship the clock ⏰ instead of seeing the patient. Some doctors have a way of still seeing patients even while being enslaved by the clock, but they are a rare

beast.

Talking childhood trauma and medical

Trauma. I’ve had some excellent therapists

In my life and one I still have access to. So

I’m going to make several copies of these 2 studies and leave them in a kind way with my doctors. Because do they really take the time to read this kind of genre? I don’t know. But if we are to be part of the change

I can’t think of anything easier I can do.

When I replied earlier, I neglected to say how worried I am for you with that headache--my worst one was only 30 days--and also that it was brave of you to post. I had just come from an abusive appointment that I still can't wrap my mind around. From a doctor who not only suggested that I was neurotic but also impugned the doctors that treated me in the past. He just fell short of suggesting something rude about my mother. I still cannot recount the event, due to its traumatic character. I feel for you on both counts: blistering headache and Kafkaesque medical encounter!❤
