What are pharmacists responsibilities?

If I had the energy I would be furious, but as it is I feel exhausted.

I react badly to Quinoric Hydroxy, I have told the doctor and the pharmacist, there is a note at the pharmacists 'no Quinoric'. Three weeks ago he dispensed Hydroxychloroquine Sulphate from ipac laboratories. I started to feel ill, I can't hold my head up, can't think straight, as it was so sudden that I've been trying to think of a trigger. Anyway the upshot is the Hydroxy Sulphate from ipac are exactly the same as Quinoric. I hope this is helpful to those who can't take Quinoric

If a doctor prescribes a drug with a specific name pharmacists should have to give that to us. they are not medics and we shouldn't have to repeatedly explain to them our health situation and why we can't take the brands they give us.

HiYou will have to speak to your gp who should put the brand of hydroxychloriquine that you need onto your repeats and also note your records that you are reacting to a specific medication. The pharmacist will then have to dispense the the brand specified on your prescription

Hi I understand that lots of Lupus sufferers cannot taketh Quinoric version of Hydroxy and like you I am one of them. I used to take Plaquenil which then became unavailable in the UK. I now take Zentiva which I understand is identical to Plaquinil. It took a fight with the pharmacies until my GP added the name to the prescription so no more problems. My son also cannot take Quinoric and he takes Blackrock and is fine on that. He also has it on his prescription for Blackrock or Zentiva as he can take both. It's not down to the pharmacist to dictate what we can and cannot have. I think sometimes they can't be bothered to order the ones we need.

Please dont tar all Pharmacists with the same brush as there are some excellent ones out there who go out of there way for their patients. And fir whoever says they are not medics they are medical professionals often knowing way more about drugs than a doctor X

Thank you for your kind reply Cecily, I'm on the mend now, I was frustrated because I'd only just come out of a flare, but onwards and upwards! Take care x

My chemist always used to try and give me Quinorec too. I refused point blank. I even had two weeks gap in treatment because I would not accept it. It is so annoying. You take care xx

hi, my understanding is it depends on what warehouse supplies your chemist as to what they can prescribe! I am lucky at last that I have found one who gets Zentiva amd after about a year they now know that is all I can take, GP has put it on my script in bold capitols too xx
