Major Symptoms: Debilitating fatigue; chronic pain in hips, lower back and neck that sometimes causes migraines; malar rash; some joint pain and minor swelling in fingers; mouth and nose ulcers; hair loss and painful/itchy bumps on scalp; struggles with mental clarity; shortness of breath; muscle weakness; sciatica; my baby was delivered 8 days past my due date via emergency c-section due to pre-eclampsia symptoms, and she only weighed 4lbs 13oz but is completely healthy and is now in the normal size range for her age
My rheumatologist said he would contact me when my blood work results came in, but I haven’t heard from him yet. Everything I’ve read says positive RNP confirms MCTD, but can you have MCTD if the ANA is negative? Are there other causes for positive RNP? Just trying to get some answers. Any info to share would be greatly appreciated!!

Could be RA, Rhupus, MCTD but you’re correct that >95% of those diagnosed with MCTD had a highly elevated ANA.
Hard to make a diagnosis based on limited information without a full clinical picture and medical history. Your symptoms seem consistent with a CTD but your physician will have to parse out what’s meaningful and what isn’t based on your symptoms. Keep a journal and pictures of oddities as time goes on. The clinical picture will get clearer with time and we all get put on the same boat of medications anyways so a name and diagnosis only gets us so far.
