Is this a Malar Rash

Hi,

I was wondering if this picture displays a malar rash. I had a biopsy on a facial rash 25 years ago, was diagnosed with SCLE but on my records, malar rash isn’t noted at all (the only mention is ‘facial rash’ which is from before the biopsy.) Now in more recent years, my doctors, as well as the rheumatologist I have seen, are unaware I get a malar rash on my face as it isn’t noted or coded on my medical records.

I would like to get some extra opinions from this forum as I have had a lot of help from answers on my previous posts so far.

Hi BP, It’s difficult to tell from the picture. Malar rashes typically do not go into the nasal folds and you have your mouth area covered in the picture. The best of luck to you. Nan

This look to me malar rash.

Hard to tell. Mine is different each time. The butterfly shape is what gives it away. Actually it's really irrelevant as you have a diagnosis of sub cutaneous lupus erythematosus anyway.

I think malar rash can appear in many different ways.
