I went for my bloods today at 10.50, ran massively late as a big deliberation over which colour blood bottles they would need.
I have a vein I call “ol reliable” as it can be palpated without a tourniquet. I was going to try and get my bloods done at work by a colleague as I work clinically, but told I couldn’t as different NHS trust. So here I am listening to them discuss which bottles I need, whilst also cracking a joke that I would need so many.
I’m called in to the room, able to count 9 bottles, if not more, don’t think I saw the lot. Lady misses my vein twice, called a colleague who managed to get it. Finally got my blood done.
Then round to X-ray which was also running late. Images of feet, ankles and hands taken but the way he was positioning my legs was so painful sending shocks up my spine. I was trying to stay still as possible to ensure the quality of the image so they wouldn’t need repeating, whilst whispering ouch ouch ouch under my mask 😥😂
Then home to a poorly child and feeling absolutely awful as she’s got her first mouth ulcer through being run down. She’s only 5 years old and I can’t help but think she’s inherited all of this rubbish from me and I feel awful in case she has and what would potentially be in the future for her.
I had a busy night shift at work the night before last which took everything out of me, and back in work tomorrow.
Don’t mean to vent but feel drained after today, and cannot wait to lay on the sofa shortly and catch up with some tv.
Hope everyone is doing well and feeling bright, big hugs
