I’ve been diagnosed with lupus 2 yrs ago by my GP due to having a rash on my back and on one side of my body . I have had no symptoms other than a rash on the inside of my leg which comes and goes . Would you say I have a mild form of it I don’t know. Also I’m a male so does that make any difference
Male with lupus : I’ve been diagnosed with lupus... - LUPUS UK
Male with lupus
Welcome Taff.you may have a mild form now I really do know but other factors like stress ,virus, diet sensitivities etc could send you at anytime into a big flare and cause your lupus to become put out of control.look after yourself as best you can...eat well, sleep well and keep stress to minimum. Get on top of any changes asap and hopefully your lupus will stay mild and under control. On the Male side of things I cant help but I do believe there is an excellent Info pack for men available from lupus uk .stay well keep smiling x
Hi Taff81 and well done for posting . I really hope your lupus will stay mild but I would definitely keep on top of your health in case it doesn’t . I’m sure you look after yourself but not smoking or drinking , getting plenty of sleep and keeping stress to a minimum is so important .
Any changes in the rash (or any new ones ) make sure you take pictures .. so important as you can then show them if needed to Dr . Take care and you’ll find the forum an invaluable source of information
Haven’t had a rash in 2 yrs only when I was first told it could be lupus and I had the blood test for it . Since then no rash on my body and I haven’t had a flare up of sorts . Don’t even know what type I’ve got either . Doctor just said if you get pain in the joints just come and see me . I’ve got slight Sciatica and slight pain in my right side that’s it and that comes and goes
The only rash I get it’s a curcle rash which last for a 3 days then disappears which appears in my groin area on both sides , a while back I did have like blister spots on my hands and for arm which took ages Togo away and that’s been it . I’ve got docs phoning me tomorrow because I just want to know what’s happening etc
Have you come on here to brag 😂
It’s a small world. I’d be amazed as we welcome Taff, who must be from Wales, that I hail from Rhondda and now live in the Clwydian hills. Best wishes Kevin
Llanelli I’m from lol
You are most welcome
Also looking back at it I was useing sun beds and it came worse when I was chopping up logs with a exe in the summer . I also remember going to the docs and the nurse thought it was scabies which went after a good few weeks and I had like blister spots on my hands which took ages to disappear. The main rash was all over my face neck back and arms. Once that rash went I had 2 patches on both sides of my back . Then the doc said about lupus which he was right
I would say see a rheumatologist to get confirmation of diagnosis. Most rashes are not lupus. You have to have 4 of 11 symptoms and positive ANA and another autoantibody to have lupus. Or if it’s cutaneous lupus you will need a biopsy for diagnosis. It would reassure you that they are treating you correctly. The best of luck to you.
Thank you nanleighh for saying what I was trying to 🤦♀️😂! Can’t get my words out this week xx
I’ve just seen the doc I’ve got fol , b12, bone , ck,ura,ra lip, lift,ue fer, tftf, crp, edta,hba1c and fbc blood tests due in two weeks for possible sle muscular aches and a tone of codine which I really don’t fancy taken . Only thing I’ve had positive it’s a positive blood test for lupus twice other than pain in a knee and drivers elbow that’s been it most probably just a waiting game now
There is no test for lupus. I’d you have lupus antibodies, that is a blood clotting disorder, not a diagnosis for lupus. Ask your doctor to do an ANA and auto antibodies. I hope you get to the bottom of what is causing your symptoms. Take good care.
Did they do autoantibodies?
