hydroxychloroquine
Hi
I take lansoprazole 30mg to combat it I sometimes I have to go to 2 a day if I have added any other medication.
Are you making sure to take your hydroxy with food?
Hi diane46 has this just been in the last few weeks ? As I have been the same and been on it 8 years , and have gastric redux like heartburn and take lansoprazle with no relief, thinking have they changed something or new makers ?
Yes me to do awful has anything helped I am using gaviscon tab
What works for me is to have dinner before 7-8pm, stick to water and eat less acidic foods and more alkaline foods. Not taking omeprazole anymore.
Hope that’s helpful.
Thanks I will try this
I take Omeprazole at night as that is when the acid reflux is worse. I have been off Hydroxychloroquine for a year now but still have the acid reflux. Good luck xx
I do the same as Tellyfic, manage the heartburn through careful diet. I try to get the zentiva brand of hydroxy which gives me fewer issues. Do be aware that antacids such as gaviscon can interfere with the effectiveness of hydroxy. In the hydroxy leaflet it says do not take them within 4 hours of each other. That's why I try to manage the problem through diet. Doesn't always work but most of the time its ok.
I hadn’t seen that I will keep that in mind
It is the generic that causes me problems. The brand name Plaquenil is for me much more tolerable although I have to pay more.
Healing hugs.
Hi be careful with lanzoprozol it was the medication which triggered lupus for me. Apparently it is rare I had been on it for 6 months when I developed a small rash on my back which then spread all over my body. Was referred to rheumatologist who thought it may be skin lupus but needed more tests. I then saw the dermatologist who asked what other meds I was taking she confirmed lanzoprozol can trigger lupus. I immediately stopped taking it and over time the rash disappeared. Unfortunately my bloods now consistently confirm low platelets and I have been on a decreasing prescription of steroids. Due to Covid I have had my rheumatology appointment pushed back but the plan is to put me azathioprine and hydroxychloroquine 😧
Hi do you take the brand Quinoric? I had dreadful reflux with it, Ive read alot of other people have too. I asked gp to change brands and I've been fine since.
Yes it’s only happened this past month but I will try and change the brand
Hi diane46 ,
If you have recently changed to a different brand/version of this tablet, that could be the culprit. You may find this page on our website helpful - lupusuk.org.uk/hydroxychlor...
