Covid vaccine and Cutaneous Lupus

Hi,

I have cutaneous lupus which I believe was triggered by the meds I was taking for inherited high cholesterol. I have also been taking various things for the lupus, prescribed by my dermatologist, which didn't work.

I've stopped all meds for a while to see if my facial rash improves, which it seemed to be doing. 2 weeks ago I had my first jab of the Pfizer vaccine. On the weekend I had a massive flare up of the rash on my face. It's very sore and itchy. I've been wondering whether the vaccine has caused the flare up.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Also, any tips on relieving the rash?

Hi Hidden ,

I think it would be very difficult to ascertain what could have triggered your flare because you had also stopped your medication. If you are experiencing a flare, I recommend that you contact your doctor to discuss how best to treat it. You could also raise your concern about whether it may have been the vaccination that triggered it and see what they advise.
