Morning, I’m new to all this and have yet to actual get a diagnosis but all the signs are there and I’m waiting for my appointment with the rheumatologist, I’m just wondering if anyone can recommend anything to help with joint pains, I take naproxen regularly but each morning I’m waking up with more aches and pains than the day before and I need something to help?

Hi Nicnic05, sorry to hear that you’re in pain. One thing you could try is stretching in the morning or the night before. I stress though to keep it very light stretching at first as too much could make you feel worse. There is also a chance that light stretching is enough to make you worse also, if that’s the case don’t continue. Another thing you could take in the meantime are over the counter painkillers like paracetamol or ibuprofen (side note ibuprofen may no longer be suitable if after you are diagnosed you get an imunnosuppresive drug but hopefully not!) or co-codamol which is what I sometimes take if paracetamol doesn’t cut it. If you have access to a bath, soak in warm water and get some epsom salts to put inside. You could also try hot/cold compresses where the pain is. I hope this helps and you get an appointment soon! Xx
Hi there.my rheumatologist gave me pregabalin which my gp prescribes for joint and nerve pain in my hands, feet, knees and elbows.i would wake up in a morning with stiff and sore joints that would last about an hour. I hope you get some relief soon. Best wishes x
I controlled my discomfort with Naproxen for many years, and ended up with a bleeding ulcer from the irritation. I am waiting for a Rheumatolgy diagnosis, in the meantime I am taking a small dose of opioid twice a day, it seems to help. I also do yoga, walk, and exercise, but often wake up with hip and shoulder pain, and twinges that last most of the day. The Rheumatologist told me to take 1000 mgs Acetamenophin three times a day for now, and I think it is actually helping.
