I've had long standing dry eyes for many, many years (pre diagnosis of my Lupus and Relapsing Polychondritis) but in this past year the dryness has been especially awful. Alongside that I recently had a haemoraged blood vessel in one of my eyes which thankfully healed of its own accord. I've also noticed that the fluid on the bottom left corner of my left eye looks like it's swollen or ulcerated in some way, which I do need to get checked out. I have tried out a variety of eyes drops but am struggling to find something that brings relief for longer stretches of time.
I've heard that humidifiers can be useful for people with dry eyes. Has anyone found them useful, and can anyone recommend a particular brand/model etc. please?
Thanks,

Hi BV - that all sounds pretty hard to deal with. I have some understanding of the dryness part.. my eyelids used to stick to my eyeballs at night which was very frightening and, ultimately, damaging. I went to Eye a&E and now prescribed Hylo Forte for day 6 times and Carbomer at night, plus Hylo Forte Night - BUT, whilst I don't have a humidifier, I do have a lot of plants that need humidity so I placed trays under them so the water evaporates into the air... also, now the heating is on again this makes things much worse for the eyes so I always place wet cloths on them all so the air is humidified. My parents had the same issue I remember - and used to leave little plates or bowls of water on top of radiators. This is much cheaper than a humidifier but of course, if you need full on humidity all night a humidifier will obviously be great. In fact... I almost certainly should get myself one too as even with all of the aforementioned going on I still have quite bad eyes at night. So - sorry I can't recommend a humidifier... but in the mean time, hope the wet cloths or saucers of water help. Do write when you've found one btw.. it would help so many of us on here! Thanks and keep safe, D
