Hi all,
Hope everyone is is keeping well. I think it was on this forum that I’d read about bone broth. I did buy some and I found it has helped but was expensive. Has anyone made their own or bought a brand that they could recommend? Thanks
Hi all,

oh dear, shows what state my head is in. I saw your post come up in the corner of my screen and thought bone broth was a new symptom I hadn't heard of before.
I make my own. It requires good marrow bones. Its easy to make. Just make sure you add apple cider vinegar, that's the important bit. I sometimes use a bit of oxtail or beef skirt to give it a bit if extra flavour and always roast the bones first for depth of flavour.
Yes I’m on bone broth which I’ve been taking every day for last 9 months and have noticed that it has helped my symptoms- I get mine on eBay or Amazon and it’s about £32 per tub which lasts me a month - the one I use is called “the best of the bone - bone broth” it’s organic which is really important- It comes in different flavours, I’m currently on healing mushroom flavour- it’s good to make your own but it must be from organic bones and I’ve had great trouble trying to source that so easier to just buy it already in the tub- hope that helps x
Hi
I recently bought the Autoimmune Cookbook (on Amazon). It includes a recipe for bone broth as it is used it in many of its recipes. It uses chicken bones, although it does state that any bones can be used. It doesn't insist on organic bones but if you want organic bones, organic chicken bones will be easier to obtain than organic beef bones. Most supermarkets will sell organic chicken. The book suggests that you collect and freeze bones from various meals and store these until you need them. The recipe is as follows:-
2 roasted chicken carcases (about 680g)
2 stalks celery chopped
2 carrots unpeeled & chopped
1 medium onion unpeeled & quartered
1 head garlic unpeeled & halved
1 bay leaf
5-10 sprigs fresh thyme
5-10 sprigs fresh parsley
2 tbsp cider vinegar
1.5 litres water
salt
Put all ingredients in a slow cooker and cook on low for 24 hours. Remove & discard the bones and veg. Using a fine sieve, strain the broth into a suitable container. Cover & refrigerate overnight or until chilled. Scrape fat from top of broth & discard. Taste & season with salt as required. Store in the fridge for up to a week or freeze for up to 6 months.
As you can see the recipe is straightforward although I must admit I haven't yet tried it. The 24 cooking time put me off! Best of luck if you try it!
Hi Josiah, Can I ask what difference bone broth has made for you? Might be something I'd try. Thanks
Hi
Yes, I found it helped. I have recently come out of a bad flare up and bad reaction to my dose of hydroxychloriquine being put up. To add insult to injury, I came down with a cold. I drank quite a bit of bone broth and I felt it made my recovery time a lot quicker as it takes me a while to recover from a cold. Worth a try
