Hi yes I did. They found a couple and they measured them and then scanned me again every few months. I think they call it ‘watch and wait‘ basically most just resolve themselves so they measure them to check if they shrink or grow if they grow they keep an eye on them. Alongside that for me they did a blood test called a CA125 to look for cancer markers.
The blood tests always came back fine and although my cyst grew on one the scans on the next one it disappeared and another ruptured which was a little painful but it went after that so all good.
It’s good they are investigating you and it’s all painless investigations and fingers crossed it’s the same for you they’ll monitor and watch and it will resolve itself.
I think it’s common but it’s also normal to be a little concerned when we are having tests.
I had endometriosis (which is a very common problem) with symptoms from my early 20s. I found out through a scan that I had 'chocolate' cysts on both ovaries. They did cause considerable pain. Treatment was surgery followed by hormone treatment - but and it's a big but that was some time ago and things have moved on considerably. The main thing is that although problematic they were not life threatening. Please try not to worry (easy to say I know) but there are lots of benign reasons for ovarian pain. Fingers are firmly crossed for you and if you feel able, do let us know the outcome. Kindest thoughts.
As a OB gyn nurse I can tell you many women have cysts on their ovaries that come and go. They need to do the ultrasound right when you are experiencing pain because it can be gone a few days later. The treatment for cysts is oral contraceptives unless they are contraindicated. I wish you the best in your journey!
Yes I have regular ovarian cysts. They come and go on their own every few months, and cause no permanent issues. It's very common and not a health issue or condition as such. Some people are just prone to them, whilst others will have one or two and never have anymore. I have the hormonal coil which helps but hasn't completely stopped them.
The ultrasound will make sure that they are not growing or something else isn't causing the pain. The ultrasound itself is painless. Please try not to worry about it and focus on keeping yourself well instead. If you are still in pain then the best thing I've found to help is heat.
I was the same with horribly painful and heavy periods, until I got the coil. They thought I had endo but the surgery was clear. I now don't get any periods which is an amazing feeling, though I still get some cysts. We often have to be careful with contraceptive options when we have lupus so make sure to discuss your options with your consultant.
Also tell them about the migraines as you may need a neurology referral. Many of us have them as part of lupus but quite a few people just cope with them instead of getting treatment. In the meantime kool'n'sooth patches are a lifesaver.
I’m just so so sad I still have no appointment as it was cancelled due to covid 🙄 . I’ve been told it could be vestibular migraines as am off balance all the time and struggle with bright lights big spaces etc .
Thought I was getting one today but I just don’t feel good . My eyes feel heavy and I’m more dizzy.
