Hello all

Quick question have been advised to take over the counter vit d tablets does anyone have any recommendations on brands? They need to be ok for veggies and easy to buy from the comfort of home.

Thanks H

personally I always use the Better You sprays which have been part of clinical trials and work. My Vit D has gone up from 50 to 99 in just 3 months so I think they are very good. They also do tests and will send you for free the spray which is most suitable for you based on the result of the test. Have a look here:

I was also going to recommend the same spray! I’ve also just started taking the better you B12 spray as well. x

Yes the spray is easy to use and I too use b12 - much easier than tablets and no tummy issues as it’s absorbed either under the tongue or inside of my cheek. I also bought one with vit k in it as recommended but can’t remember the benefits 🤦‍♀️

You need to take what are called cofactors with vitamin D or the tablets will take the calcium out of your bones and deposit it in your arteries. Vit D isn't actually a vitamin it is a hormone that controls blood calcium it is produced in the kidneys. I recommend you join a Vit D group like vitamin D and cofactors. My D was 24 and I raised it to 121 in a few months following their protocol.

I buy Holland n barrett 25mg. Get them online, often in the 1p sake. Or discounted.

Hi, I use Nature's Answer liquid D3. Not so cheap but lasts ages. Can't tolerate some of the Better You ingredients and these suit me fine. I use Vit K2 and magnesium co-factors. Best wishes

I take prescription vit D, Adcal-D3. I was asked to buy my own but I said no. Having had levels drop and feeling unwell I wanted to stay on prescription.

My son takes Natures Aid bought on Amazon. He suggests you search for veggie tabs online.

Who is it thats advised you to buy them???

Mine are prescribed by my doctor. As I'm older I get free meds.

Hi. My GP prescribes Colecalciferol one per day (800u/day). They seem to work for me.

I've been told by my doctor (and many experts have also suggested this) that any vitamin D - regardless of price - will do the same thing.

I've not heard of the Better You sprays so will check it out.

You need to have your vitamin D levels checked first to find out if you need supplements, and if so, how much. The chances are that you will need them, it’s a common thing for autoimmune diseases, but having too much D can give you problems.

Hi, I struggle keeping vit D to a good level. When I need some I use an oral spray as my stomach can't cope with too many tablets. The make I use is better you.

Hi there - from the start my rheumy said I need 2000iu Vit D3 a day - so I bought them for years - but then I asked my GP if I could just have them on prescription and she said "of course". You could get them on prescription surely? Mind you, you need to make sure they are ok for veggies. Previously I used hollandandbarrett.com/shop/... (ok for veggies!) and I also take Vit K2 also as this helps absorption hollandandbarrett.com/shop/... Here is a mainstream article on D3 and K2 that I found - and started taking K2 afterwards... getthegloss.com/article/why... Good luck, D.

Hi

My sister used to take Holland and Barratts Vitamin D & the GP was pleaseed with her blood results. Unfortunately none of my prescription Adcal Vitamin D seems to agree with me & so I am too afraid to try them.
