It is exactly a week since I posted the first photo of the wee dunnocks - hatched that day I’m sure. Some of you asked me to keep you posted. So here they are. There are still 4 healthy chicks but they are growing fast and look as though they’ll soon be too big for the nest.
A friend suggested we put gorse under the hawthorn where the nest is located to deter curious cats. We don’t have gorse handy but we do have an horrendously thorny shrub so we put branches of it under the hawthorn. So far so good. 🙏🏻🤞 So thrilled to be able to watch them grow. I only check in every 3 days so as not to disturb them too much. They don’t seem bothered mind you and just appear to hope I’ve something to feed them. 😂😂 But I’ll leave that to their mum and dad who are regular visitors to our bird feeding station keeping to the ground feeders.
Hoping you enjoy seeing them again. 🥰😍

I feel very privileged indeed and am only too pleased to share the experience of watching them grow with anybody else who loves nature, as you clearly do Cecily. They are such a joy and whenever I feel under the weather, for whatever reason, I think of the 4 little chicks in their nest in my hedge and it brings a smile to my face.😁😁 Good to hear from you Cecily. 👍🏻👍🏻 Keep safe. 🙏🏻🤞🤗😘
They are just sooo goodness cute!! Growing fast, they will need a townhouse soon dear spotty>>>How very rare, and special to have a front row seat to nurture the nature in your own yard, what a blessing.. Keep us posted, and soon they will be smiling for the photo's! peace, and blessings to all.Xxx thestormy sunshine
😂😂 Smiling or laughing with wide-open mouths. 😂 They are so cute and quickly maturing. Lovely to see their eyes sparkling and the little feathers forming on their heads and bodies.🥰 I’ll definitely keep you posted Stormy.
Fabulous pic! So lovely to see nature in action from the comfort of our device screens! Hungry chicks indeed, thanks for posting Spotty - looking forward to seeing their progress! Xx
Thanks Horsewhisper. So pleased you are enjoying the pictures of the wee souls. I’ll check on them again on Thursday and if there is any significant difference I’ll take another photo. I’m still praying they keep safe as I saw a big black cat prowling round our garden last night. Hoping the thorns and screens will deter it. 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Take care. 🤗😘
Thanks Stiff. I’m praying it continues that way if none of the prowling cats find them.🙏🏻🙏🏻 The nest is only about waist height from the ground so an easy target if it is found. I just pray the spiky thorny branches we’ve placed under the hawthorn will deter them. 🤞🤞 I hope you are keeping as well as you can be Stiff. 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Take care. 🤗😘
Yes not too bad thanks , keeping fingers crossed appointment with neuro still goes ahead in July, but hopeful as no cancellation received yet but disappointed the virus put halt to urgency as still suffering. I’ll probably get a cancellation letter now I’ve mentioned it 🙈
Keeping as busy as can keeping mind occupied, my visitor squirrel is here everyday now but no more ducks. Watched a crow come down to my feeder and fly off with a whole fat ball 😂😂😂
Looking forward to getting my chickens , we are in process of all preparations now 👍😅
Lovely all these birds on here, barnclowns jack, stormys flutter, your dunnocks , and many more 👍
It is our pleasure to do so. We feel privileged to ave this opportunity to see the little ones grow. But we are still praying for their safety until they fledge. Keep safe LBP. 🤗💕
