Hello,

I have been identified at high risk and needing to shield, I’ve received various letters from my GP and my consultants at the Hospital. I have registered online but I don’t seem to be appearing on the governments at risk list and I cannot get any food delivery or medication delivered which means I’m having to leave the house when I shouldn’t be. Does anyone have any advice or know who I could contact about the situation?

Hi aimee161 ,

It is probably worth contacting your local council (most have dedicated support lines for COVID-19) or reach out to other community voluntary organisations. Hopefully they can assist you with your food shopping and collecting medication.

Hi I am high risk too have had NHS letters, hospital letters etc. I registered with the gov.uk/extremely vulnerable website. This will help you get slots with supermarkets, meds, food parcels etc. You could also try your local council offices too who should be able to help. I got my NHS letter on 21st March and have only today been marked as priority delivery slot for my local Asda. Better late than never! Good luck! x

Ah that's interesting to know as I've registered twice now with the gov and heard nothing!!

I think its cos I put yes to the questions have u got anyone to get ur essentials at the moment, and have u got anyone to carry ur shopping into the house - yes me!

Hi sorry you’re having so much trouble with this I also registered on the government site and was advised to contact my G P who also has to register you on the site. I contacted my G P and requested him to register me. I obtained delivery times from Waitrose I don’t thinkTesco are using the system but Sainsbury’s and Asda are you’d have to check supermarkets sites in your area good luck best wishes and stay safe

Hi, Tesco are using the system and Aldi have food parcels for the vulnerable which you can order online. You do need to be in touch with your local council. Good luck and stay safe.

Hi I have SLE - a heart stent - and Asthma so tried to register on the Gov site as I didn't get a shielding letter - the site says contact GP which I did my GP says they have not had information about this !!! My Consultants Secretary says letters were being done that was weeks ago. I am going around in circles, so much so that I emailed the Victoria Derbyshire TV show on BBC1 - they phoned me because they want to do an item about all of us that seem to have been missed of the Vunerable High Risk list. The outcome is that I am going to be on the Telly !! On Monday the 20th of April at about 9.30am. They are going to get someone on from the GP association or something like that to see if we can find out why there doesn't seem to be a Joined up plan regarding Shielding and although the Gov said there was more letters to be sent nothing has happened. Wish me Luck fellow Lupus friends I want to tell them how dangerous this C-19 is to us.

I am also shielding and received a text message asking me to register. Within days I received a phone call from a lovely lady from our local councils COVID-19 response team asking how I was and did I need anything. . Since them I have received four large boxes of food/household goods . When you register you are asked whether you can get your meds. If not, someone will arrange to pick up and deliver. Do make sure you register to get the help you need!

Just keep registering and go on the supermarket websites and sign up and as soon as your name is given to them they will write to you and say they will open up slots for you.

Also say no to the questions about having anyone to help you get the shopping in and you will definitely get a call from the gov and local council regarding help. Once you get the help you can go back and reregister and say you have help.

Hello

Telephone customer services at your chosen supermarket for delivery. Explain your situation. They can add you to the scheme themselves. You have the letters if they ask for proof. I contacted Tesco and they added me, like you I’ve had a letter but heard nothing from the supermarkets.

Good luck.

Wendy

Hi everyone - over the weekend I seem to have been added to the lists! I don’t know what changed as I haven’t managed to contact anyone else yet. I think they should make it clear that it can take awhile for you to get on the lists once you’ve registered.
