THE TEN COVID-MENTS

Thou shalt stay home.

Thou shalt not gather in groups.

Thou shalt not panic.

Thou shalt not hoard.

Wash thy hands.

Honor thy curfew.

Check on loved ones.

Do not COVID thy neighbor's wife or husband

Seriously, THOU SHALT STAY HOME .

Thou shalt make the best of it.

We live in HOPE

An optimistic state of mind that is based on an expectation of positive outcomes with respect to events and circumstances in one's life or the world at large.

Best wishes Kevin

Well this probably isn’t popular, but in USA I think it’s over blown! Just a rural town person that has seen public walking trails is a remote area shutdown! I know there are hotspots here but goodness gracious shutting down a walking trail in a rural small town in the middle of nowhere! Really?

Social distancing on a walking trail should work. I took the cocker spaniel out this morning. Best wishes Kevin

in reply to loopy4me

I agree Loopy4me. That was the one thing I found extreme. I thought a nice hike might help keep our sanity.

At some point, government has too much power, I feel. I am completely amazed how much control they have on us! Particularly you poor folks in California. How can people with ai survive without light exercise and fresh air

in reply to loopy4me

I think Gov Newsome’s next step is complete Marshall Law, as that is practically what he has us under anyhow. He has called in the National Guard. Maybe he has delusions of power grandeur?

Wow. I could see some lockdowns in hot spot areas. . But the whole state wow. Northern California is some of the most beautiful places on this earth and very remote

in reply to loopy4me

It is.

We are about 45-60 minutes above the border. We are experiencing things, but not like up north. For sure.

Believe me - people cannot be trusted not to get together and until everyone takes it seriously it will continue as it has here in Italy. But because they could, the local youths were out in groups on their bikes. And the elderly in the village were still meeting for their usual chat and coffee until the cafes were closed. Since then - you can see everyone takes it more seriously.

Love it Kevin! Very clever!!! Thank you!

I am in ct but in a NYC commuter area and we are still encouraged to exercise outside but to respect our distances. Dog walking and jogging is still going on in my village center. But it is quiet and people are signal file. College kids sent home from campuses are our issue they are partying like it is 1999 everywhere still it seems. :(

in reply to Roarah

Wow, parties? So much for social concerns. In California, a few days ago, it was not gatherings of more than 10’. Now it’s ‘no visitors at your home’ and everything else is pretty much shut down.

Even in Utah where cases are still low they aren’t gathering more than 10 per event.

I really liked the way you had put this in a Ten Commandments format. I have friends who live in California where the State is now completely on lockdown, a really difficult thing to do as a whole load of Mexicans cross the border for their employment there

Sorry my computer keeps going AWOL and I had started this reply, so the rest of it was. My friends who stay in San Diego were telling me that if you want to be tested for Covid19 virus that it costs upward of 500 dollars.

You then start thinking Thank god we in the UK have the NHS but then you start to realise that even the most at risk in this country have not yet even been tested. You then begin to wonder, when does anyone think this will happen?

Testing is free as is any treatment you receive for Covid 19

I stayed in the US for 3 years and if you wanted tested for anything without a recommendation from a doctor then you had to pay for it and sometimes even with a recommendation. I don’t remember ever getting anything free health wise so unless they have changed the rules state to state.......?

Just on this covid Geordie. We live in Colorado and yes health insurance costs are ridiculous.

It is - but you wait days for a test They aren't even testing NHS staff on the front line.

It is free to the individual but Government money which pays for it is tax-payers money, or money borrowed by the Government which will result in our taxes going up. So we are paying for it effectively.

in reply to Geordie-Y

Geordie, you might have your friends double check. I know there is a cost if you go to a private testing place, or a hospital bill (but shouldn’t be anywhere near $500) that is separate from the actual testing, otherwise, they are setting up free testing sites all over right now. The Diamond Stadium in Lake Elsinore (about a 60 minute drive for them) is having drive up free testing tomorrow. You do need an appointment though. But it’s free (tax payer dollars). And many other drive up sites are being scheduled and popping up.

Even so, your friends’ insurance should be picking up most the bill if they went elsewhere.

San Diego has some of the best medical care facilities there are. Beautiful new hospitals all over the county. You would be amazed at all the hospitals they have. Really quite fantastic.

If what you’re saying is correct it still pushes the next year’s premium up. Been there, seen it, done it.

No offence.

in reply to Geordie-Y

None taken. It really is coming out of the National Relief/State of Emergency fund that President Trump has issued. So basically, we’ve already paid for it. A stash for a rainy day, and it’s pouring.

Love it Kevin. 👏🏻👏🏻 I wonder how many of these commandments are broken daily just like the original commandments? 🤔
