Hello! I’ve never posted before but need some advice please! I have UCTD and Fibromyalgia and work in a school. I don’t know if the government advice about vulnerable people applies to me. Can anyone advise me please? Many thanks.

I read this morning that those that are taking steroids or immunosuppressants are at risk. X

Thanks for your reply. I'm not currently on steroids so that may take me out of the risk category, but I was called in for a free flu jab which may put me back in it!

Hi Hayley419 ,

If your doctor invites you for the annual flu vaccination then it suggests that they see you as a high-risk for complications from such viruses. The recommendation would be for you to self-isolate for 12 weeks if possible.

Hello

It probably does. If you have a systemic autoimmune condition, it's likely that your immune system does not function at 100% to protect you from infections (see here) lupus.org/resources/lupus-a... . If you are also taking an immune suppressing drug, including steroids, that would also make you more vulnerable (HCQ is usually described as an 'immune modulator' rather than an 'immune suppressant' but don't ask me what the difference is!)

Having said that, obviously I can't offer any definitive advice. I'm just a random bloke on the internet. So you should seek advice from your doctor to get a proper answer. x

Thank you. It's so difficult, isn't it? And the government advice is exactly that, dithering advice , when what we need is instruction, I think!
