Iv been unwell for the past 10+ months finally my gp did a range of tests and found me positive for ana and had a dsdna if 700 . Therefore she’s referring me on for further support in respect of lupus . My question is is my anti ds dna result of 700 mean I defiantly have lupus or could it still be something else ?

dsDNA antibodies of 700 means that you are really quite unwell, and suggests some kind of autoimmune illness, but I don’t think it’s specific. Nor are anti-nuclear antibodies (ANA).
Certain antibodies are specific to particular autoimmune illnesses. To be sure of a diagnosis you will need to see a specialist.
Hi Harry19, sorry to hear you've been unwell, but you have a knowledgeable GP who is aware of the tests that might point to a diagnosis. Lupus UK has a very informative leaflet: lupusuk.org.uk/wp-content/u...
You'll see that dsDNA is highly specific for SLE, but a rheumatologist will look for at least 4 criteria from a set of 11 while doing an assessment.
Hoping you have the right treatment plan soon. As your GP seems supportive, do go back and ask questions. Be well xxx
Anti dsdna is only seen in lupus nothing else , 700 is very high .
Be patient, unfortunately it seems that in most cases it can take very long time, and a lot of testing, to pin point a clear diagnosis?Lupus is called the great imitator because it can appear as so many other things. Your doctor is probably just trying to rule out those other things and make sure she gives you a correct diagnosis.
