Just finish with my doctor’s visit. ANA is down and my mixed connective tissue disease marker went from positive to negative. The doctor thinks the hydro chloroquine is working and caused the change to negative. A year ago I reduced the dosage from 400 mg start up dosage down to 200mg maintenance dosage.
I was having a flare up about 4 months ago, so we raised the dosage to 400mg. A few days later I came down with a respiratory bug. I have been fighting this bug which turned into a chronic cough for 4 months. Since this same thing occurred about 8 months ago, we lowered the dosage back to 200mg. Over the past 3 months, I have gone through allergy testing, pulmonology testing, and an endoscopy trying to figure out what is going on. I start to get better after the endoscopy and having new meds prescribed. However, last week I ended coming down with another cold but hopefully everything will clear up soon. It is a little frustrating since I rarely got sick until 6 years ago.

Mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD) is an autoimmune disease that is considered to be a cousin of lupus. We published a factsheet on ‘LUPUS: and Mixed Connective Tissue Disease’ which discusses symptoms, complications and the treatments available for MCTD. I appreciate the response. The link to your webpage was very informative. I get confused by new symptoms that pop up but i have been able to cope and find ways to get in front of the issues. Your website has been helpful in this process.
