How awful for you I’m so sorry. Will just cross my fingers like mad for miracles here X

So sorry to hear that. I have heard of people making recoveries from infections but not after being intubated following a heart attack. If there really is no sign of response i dont think they can do more. But if the family have seen a response then the doctors should listen to you.

I feel so sorry for you all.

Hello lisabones: am very much feeling for you all...this is terribly hard to bear...it’s really good you’re sharing here...some of us understand from experience, others from imagination...ALL of us really do care and hope our replies can be some comfort. My experience is similar to overnighthearingloss’s, whose advice makes total sense.

You are not alone here on our forum. Sending you love & wishing you courage XOXO Coco

I am so sorry about your sister. It must be wrenching to see your her, still young, to be in this state. Can you tell us what you mean by « not responding? » Is her heart not responding or is she unresponsive? She may have been oxygen deprived from the heart attack. My experience of working in a hospital is that the doctors do everything to keep someone alive except under certain circumstances. Please have them explain to you very clearly the condition of her heart and her brain. Really feeling for you. K

My father had six heart attacks between the ages of 30 and 42. I feel for you and know it is a heart wrenching place of waiting and questioning. As KayHimm already replied, I also think it would be wise to make sure you have all your questions answered by the doctors at this very important time so you completely understand what they are telling you and what is going on with your sister now. My prayers are with you.

Dear Lisabones, so very sorry to hear of your situation, it's heartbreaking. My Mother was in a similar circumstance. Only it was a coma she was in after having a reaction to too much anesthesia being given during an operation. She wasn't coming around and they had her on a machine for her vitals. The doctors told us if they took her off the machine she could die, but if they took her off the machine and she lived she still could be incapacitated in a vegetative state. My daughter and I prayed about it, and my daughter said that God could keep her alive and well even if they took her off the machine so that's what we did. My Mom recovered. The reason that I have told you my story is that the doctors at that time didn't have hope for her. Sometimes you have to fight for what you think is right and not from what you're being told. My heart goes out to you and I am sending many prayers for you to find an answer, and for your sister's well-being, blessings and comfort to you dear one, and your family❤Littlebowpeep

Hi Lisabones. I'm so sorry that you’re all going through this...what a terrible situation to be in.

I agree with what others have said and just wondering if there's a lack of clarity about what's actually going on?

If she's in an induced coma, stopping meds may mean that they've stopped the meds that induce the coma and are waiting to see if she recovers consciousness. And as this hasn't happened yet, they are perhaps being cautious and having conversations to prepare you in case this does not happen.

So...stopping meds does not mean removing care or any other treatment that might become necessary (she doesn't necessarily need to be in an intensive care unit for this to happen).

As others have suggested , it would be a good idea to ask to speak to her doctors for further clarification...and if you can, go in with a prepared list of questions so that you get answers to all the things you need to know.

Doctors should include you in any decisions that are made about your sister's care so, make sure that you are quite clear about what you would like to happen.

I sincerely hope that there will be a good outcome for you all...and please do let us know how you all get on...and post again if you need any more support...or just want a chat.

With hugs xx

So sorry to hear about your sister my sons mother in law was in an induced coma for nearly 3 months to give her body chance to heal she went in with keto acidosis and heart problems they tried a few times to bring her out of the coma and they had to put her under again as she wasn't responding well, she is now out of hospital and although waiting for a heart operation is doing well, as has been said by others you really need clarification about what they really mean about stopping her meds, hope all goes well xx
