Yes I have. I’m told it’s Sjogrens related for me - but hasn’t progressed for a few years so it’s counted as damage done - also age related. I’m learning the hard way that Sjögren’s (primary or secondary) dries us up everywhere so we inevitably age prematurely. X

Mine is subcortical vascular disease initially thought to be small vessel disease. Is yours small vessel. Think mine is more serious.

Small vessel disease becomes about as serious as it gets if it progresses to vascular dementia Kingsnorth - but fortunately mine appears to be static for the time being. They check every 18 months. The thing the vascular dr is checking me for is cerebral Vasculitis so I guess they are the same thing or can appear very similar? I admit I avoid googling as both my parents had vascular dementia so I’m hiding my white matter in the sand lol!

My mother had alzheimers so it is scary. My neurologist doesnt need to see me again. Remind me how old you are im 68 in November l think l will stop googling.

I’m a mere 55! Just been newly diagnosed with several age related conditions, severe degenerative disc disease and herniated discs - a great excuse for rheum to wash her hands of me I’m fearing! I confess I google plenty - however, I don’t google about the brain ever.🤞🏽🤷🏼‍♀️🤯😱

Thanks for the last sentence K - I seem to be doomed to get young doctors who are mostly very nice and competent but I usually leave feeling I’m ancient! X

My wife was diagnosed sle dec 17 had a brain mri and discovered she has frontal lobe atrophy and partial empty cella. Currently under investigation by neurology but its hard to see how its unrelated. The main cause of this condition is blocked restricted blood vessels in the brain - small vessel disease. My wife functions normally mostly a bit forgetful when she is tired and she has been like that for at least 20 years and no marked deterioration. So there is hope for all yet. Good luck
