Evening to all, Above is my better half, he is "thestorm". I know we work on time differences here, and I keep forgetting to apologize for my seemingly delayed responses and replies to everyone in this great hub. I post brain fog, farts,as a laughable way to pause and remind my brain of what, when and how I, and some of us are doing, or what we are doing. Makes a tough time a little more humorous. Sorry, to the point I am making here is my consult finally with the new Neurologist I saw. Nice Doctor, in hand I took all notes, pictures, power point questions, test results, and lost my mind along the way. After a long detailed visit, he decides that my brain fog-"farts", are memory louse related, and orders a cognitive test, I did fail it, score is 30-best, I scored, a very bad 18. I could not believe myself. I did not doubt the good Doctor, I doubted myself, and sunk into the waiting chair. Being anxious, I had to use the bathroom there, and after the nurse directed me, I found myself wandering the hall several times, walking past the facility in "brain-fog" mode, lost in space. I am a college graduate, with many responsibilities in my life. Now, I am going to a memory clinic as per the Neurologist, to see whats the "fog" all about. He also ordered a CT scan of the brain. I have had many of them over the years, and had a chiari malformation which was surgically corrected. Also, having SLE, I told the Doctor, and gave him the report. Given all the conditions I already have, I said to him, could this just be a progressive manifestation from those. Or, is this something I should be more serious about. The neurologist shrugged it off, and then told me he was to retire in February so he would be sending all results to my GP!! What do you all think, and does anyone else have a diagnosed memory condition, and if so what can be done for it. I truly appreciate the support and questions or answers from you all. I send you all my peace, prayers and blessings. Foggy, thestormxx

Stormy, beautiful dog! Is it a Husky.

I think we all go through brain fog. And you have a great attitude to laugh about it. (We can laugh, or we can freak out. I like laughter). Puzzles, Sudoku, etc., have all been proven to be great brain exercises. I would look into a brain exercise you enjoy and take it up. Can’t hurt, could help, and may at least slow things down? This is of course, non-expert advice. I am a certifiable, credentialed expert of nothing. 😁

Thank you kindly for the tips!!! We gotta laugh it is good for the soul, and mind,LOL... My buddy love there in the photo is a Siberian Malamute, great big loving fluffy energy dog. He has not yet turned two. He does help with my brain fog moments, and so much more. It is a gift to have him! I am looking on line for the brain exercise, and goodness if we exercise any more body part with all of our conditions, we could open a therapy center, ha. you take care my hub friend, and I will keep on keeping on. All my prayers and blessings to you Brooksidecourtxxxxxx🤗

Try to remember there are many types of memory. You don’t just have short/long term. I score low on that test as well but put me in a surgical arena and everything comes back. I can tell you everything my kids did growing up but not lunch yesterday; maybe not today.

Comforting to know, LOL, that memory is plaguing many of us... I to remember everything my kids did, and all my work, collage and skills. That arena is right in front of me.Neurologist is sending me to a memory clinic, that is not in my wheel house. I will research that online,as when I was in the health industry, there were no" memory clinics" so to speak. Thanks for the support, and.........What did you have for lunch yesterday??????? LOL. You have all my peace and blessingsxxxxxx😊

Thank you Krazykat for the fluffy compliments And, yes, he is a so soft cuddly bunny buddie. When I am in the brain-fog moments, he actually re-directs me believe it or not. an example, I will be in the kitchen cooking, then I Just stop dead, and glare out dazed, confused, the dog will come to my side, and look up at my eyes directly, and then he will look at say whats in my hands, then he will put his eyes to it and to my eyes as to show me what it was I should be doing. I is quite amazing, dogs and other pets know when we there caregivers are unwell or not right as rain. storm is my guide in this new adventure of mine, and I am so blessed to have him. As for the specialist, yes, finally another direction to take, sadly I have to wait until the spring of 2020 to go to the memory clinic. At least I have that, and everyone's support very grateful. Sorry to have posted your ear off, I am so very appreciative of everyone here. I'll be posting more, i'm sure. You take care, and sending hugs and healing vibes to lift the days. peace, thestorm, stormxxxxxxxxx🤗

I adore your Storm doggy Storm! looks like he’s keeping an eye on you! As a fellow brain fogger, I try and improve my memory by remembering things in threes (Rule of 3, have a google). When shopping for a few things I make myself go without a list and remember stuff in multiples of 3. I built up really slowly a few months ago (from walking into a shop wondered what I was doing there, only to walk straight out again and go home feeling really daft) Today I bought 12 items in the supermarket remembered in 4 lots of 3’s!! Woohoo! I came home and had to lie down for a bit but at least I achieved it! Hope this suggestion helps! 🐕xx

Thank you for the compliments, storm is my brain, and o so sweet love. Great tip. I will definitely google the3, and as I do have to shop soon, so I will give your idea a try too!!! May I ask, what type of brain fog do you have? And have you ever had a memory clinic visit. With many of our conditions, the fog can come in many ways. It just bothers me that now the doctor is trying to define it more, after I failed the primary test. So shared stories are all I have to go on for now. I am grateful for your input and support Horsewhisper, and I like your user name! Peace and blessings to you:) thestormxx🐺

Hi thestorm, it’s so not nice to have a dodgy memory, I’m with you on that one. Happy to share my story - after many incidents such as setting the satnav to do very familiar local journeys in the car, unable to navigate my way on the London Underground even with a map (having worked in London for 25 years 🤦‍♀️) having massive blanks in client meetings, not knowing what I was talking about and even who the people were in the room 😱, I got very upset and worried and started to lose confidence. This was all in the run up (along with other symptoms) to a diagnosis of UCTD in April last year. My GP referred me to a neuropsychologist in the NHS and I undertook a memory test. I completed the same one twice, in about a 3 hour period. I scored 17 first time round and then 39 second time round. Although the scores were low, together they were in the range of “normal”, so no further action. (Not sure what the max/top score was) Even while I was at the clinic I had this surreal/bizarre moment as I couldn’t work out why I was there and collapsed into fits of giggles during the test! Just recalling it now, they must have thought I was nuts!! Anyway, they managed to keep a straight face whilst I was crying with laughter! Funny but not funny if you get my meaning?! Well that was 20 months ago - I have managed to improve memory and cognitive function a little by setting myself a memory task each day (like the shopping) and all the usual lifestyle stuff like keeping inflammatory foods out of my diet, regular Pilates, acupuncture, fresh air and exercise (my horses help with the last 2!) I also stop in the day and “rest my brain”. I lie down for 10 to 20 mins in the peace and quiet and clear my mind of all thoughts. I find this quite refreshing! I haven’t been diagnosed with anything in particular, I just have “poor memory and low cognitive function” on my medical notes. My work load is dramatically reduced and I work from home now, (when I remember to 😆) This was ok to arrange as it’s my husband’s business. Anyway, I hope you get some answers soon, with the upcoming CT scan and ongoing appointments. At least you have your gorgeous Storm to remind you of stuff - it’s funny how they know when we need help! Hope this has been useful, apologies for long post, I got carried away recalling it all! 🤣 Best of wishes to you and your 🐕 xx

Hello Horsewhisper, No apologies needed, You have an interesting journey there. And I fully understand what you mean, nuts, we are just coco-nuts. Laughter warms the heart, as does our furry friends. I did go to shop, and I tried the 3's rule. I put my list in my pocket, dressed like a snow man, its very cold here, and once I arrived with hubby and storm in tow, went into the store, walked isles after isles with my hand on that list. Trying to look and remember 3 items without peeking at it.😅😅 I forgot the "Eggs", on sale. But it worked!!!Next store, I tried 4 items, and forgot the napkins, because I was distracted with all the holidays decor, my bad. So I didnt count that one. Thank you so very much for sharing your story with me. You sure do all the cognitive, memory lifestyle benefits. From your list I am going to follow a memory task each day, and cheat a little with post-it notes. I must confess, they are everywhere. Looks like I gift wrapped the house!!! LOL. Storm gets them stuck on his fur... HA, life has to be funny. Self therapy, and mindfulness , you have a respectful handle on. and I wish you all the best, to your 4 legged baby too! Peace and blessings to you. thestormxx 🤗🤗

Well done you! That’s a great start and a good idea to have your back up list in your pocket (try not to lob it in the trash, like I did when I wondered why I was walking round with a piece of paper in my hand when out shopping). Crazy huh?! 😜 Anyway, a little bit of a memory test each day I find helps. I like the idea of a gift wrapped house - Christmas all year round thanks to post it notes! Are they different colours? Perhaps Storm sticks the important ones on his fur and brings them to you! Clever hound! Anyway, I hope the shopping trips continue to be a success and your memory starts to improve a little. Peace and warmth in this cold back to you xx
