DWP once again. When will they learn?
Appalling. Just listening to a BBC Radio 4 report of someone being reassessed for PIP. The assessment company claimed that the claimant had not been at home when they called, but the claimant was able to demonstrate not only that she had been in, but her phone records showed that the assessor had made no calls to her either. After sending this evidence in to the DWP appeals process, the DWP told her that they had "reviewed" her appeal and decided to stop all payments as she "had not attended her assessment appointment". The programme reported that both the assessment company and the DWP had declined to comment further.
More evidence that the DWP is happy to accept blatant lies on the part of assessment companies if it means they can get people off benefits.
Grrrrrrrrr.....
Truly disgraceful, and the scale of appeal wins is unbelievable, you would think someone in the Gov would have a light bulb moment and think duh, something appears to be wrong, and the answer would be correct. The system is rotten to the core IMO, and needs an Independent Review into the benefit processes, and start making the DWP accountable for any bad practices.
Couldn't agree more! This is hardly the first time we've heard that DWP and whomover they now contact with are getting it wrong by a long way. Even the legal chaps who oversee Tribunals are pretty fed up by their time being wasted: they see around 70% of Tribunals overturning DWP's initial decision.
The very worst part of this is the tragedies that have resulted, particularly by those in poor mental health.
