Hello Jhpc,

There's got to be some analgesia that you can use! From what I gather, ibuprofen is a no-no, but paracetamol is usually OK. However, it does depend on your liver function. This article gives an example of what a pharmacist might advise - pharmaceutical-journal.com/...

I guess the answer is that you should really discuss this with your doctor and/or pharmacist (the pharmacists in some shops are really highly qualified, and seem to enjoy the chance to stretch their expertise sometimes!)

Hope you get some relief soon in any case x

Thanks for the link. I phoned my local pharmacy and they said I could use paracetamol or ibuprofen as I am on a low dose of methotrexate.

I was on my feet too much yesterday didn’t realise till I sat down, my legs especially my thighs were and still are very painful, the worst they have been in a while.

I have my next appointment next week.

Thanks again

Just admit to some aches in my thigh as well, can't figure out if I am not getting enough exercise & muscle rebelling or the statins (at least my cholesterol came down) i was put on recently. Glad whispering mention pain relief, as I am on a number of meds and will read with interest about pain relief. May want to apply heat as well alternatively. Feel better. ML

Thanks. I did too much walking yesterday that’s what’s caused this pain.

Yes I will try the heat now see if can help.

Good to get feed back.

Well done in lowering your cholesterol, I find the benecol drink does it for me.

It such a balancing act, these aches & pains. Good advice on the benefit haven't tried it....my doc is not keen on giving statins, but it was just to high cholesterol)... Finally found some fine oatmeal i could digest & enjoy oh so pleased as I sure it will help too.... Feel better soon. ML

Hi you’re on the same Meds as me and I take tramadol I’ve been on it a long time no probs but it’s known as marmite as you get on with or you don’t for me it’s a god sent but my farther in law can’t take it as it makes him feel stoned 🤪

I was on tramadol years ago, not for me I too felt stoned...

I take pregabalin at night for nerve pain.

I use tramadol if I’m really bad at night, so that I can sleep. The days are better if I can sleep at night. Don’t take it during the day unless I’m soooo bad I’m out of it with pain, that’s happened twice I think.

Next time you see a Dr have a chat about it. I’m not allowed to take anything aspirin based, due to blood problems (ITP). But the Dr (GP) has clearly set out my a), b), c) for different levels of pain. So I have paracetamol, co-codamol, codine (with strict instructions) and then the tramadol...

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info, with rest and ibuprofen as well as my usual meds, my pain has subsided well almost. My worry now is I’m off on my hols next week I hope I don’t get a repeat of this pain. I have my neurologist appointment on Thursday so will definitely ask him what is best for me.
