Hi Pamster. It would be impossible to say what effect the transfusion had. Anti-kell antibodies would attack kell proteins, and fall into the IgG mediated responses. Their presence could have initiated a systemic response but there would be no way of confirming that pathology. The literature on anti-kell in relation to other autoimmune conditions is non-existent.
However, the pre-tranfusion presence of autoimmune Hashimoto's meant there was always the chance that other secondary conditions would surface, sooner or later. All the available literature suggests that autoimmune conditions love a party.
I started with Lupus-like symptoms and have ended up with FMS, MCTD, HS, and Raynaud's, and have begun to show signs of Sjogren's...
Whatever the case, I hope your condition is well managed to allow you the best quality of life possible.
Best of luck x
Hi LupieMani,
Thank you for taking the time to get back to me....really appreciated....
I have actually found quite a bit of literature about this, ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...
bloodjournal.org/content/12...
I am no medic but from what I am reading it looks so..... I wonder why there have been no trials in the UK with regard to this issue...? I think the transfusion has made my immune system hyper sensitive and therefore its attacking me thinking I am the enemy.
I havent got great care at the moment... I seem to be the one pushing my GP for referrals etc... I have disc degeneration at several levels, skin issues, a lot of pain although I am fit (Walk, ballet & Pilates) and eat I a very healthy diet...occasionally going gluten free.
Just out of curiosity... Have you received a transfusion...?
