Pregnant whilst taking mycophenolate

Hi everyone,

I'm 29 years old and I've been diagnosed with Lupus since I was 20. I recently found out that I'm pregnant and whilst this should be a joyous occasion I'm sad because I was still on mycophenolate when I found out albeit a very low dosage , which I have now stopped. I think I'm about 5 weeks and worried what damage has already been caused to the baby as it can cause malformations.

Does anyone have any experiences they could share, my husband sadly thinks we have to terminate the pregnancy and this is very hard for me. I'm off to see my consultant on Tuesday but I'm sure their suggestion will be the same thing.

Hi there. I really hope this would be something your specialists could advise on. I don’t think you should be pressured into having a termination until you know more about this as Mycophenolate may not have impacted on your pregnancy at all at this very early stage. I panicked about all sorts of things I’d done before realising I was pregnant with my second child but all was fine and he’s a strapping 22 year old now. Not that I was on immunesuppression at the time but I did take other things. X
