Very dry hands
My GP prescribed Betaphol (sp) which is good, but I'm lucky because ai can top off with unscented Norweigian Formula several times a day.
I use CETRABEN emollient cream which was prescribed by a dermatologist,it’s a pump action container. I use it every day and have found it very helpful. My GP prescribes it but it is available online.
I find the Norwegian formula very good, although it is not cheap it is effective. I also use it for dry patches on my legs and it is good for that too.
Hi 12derby. Everyone given you sound advice but when my hands are like this I gently expholiate with face or body scrub and then lather in face mask followed by hand cream. Works for me every time xx
Flossy- I use a coffee bean crusher and crack almonds add olive oil in chopper. Then I mix together mint julep mask , a little Johnson's lavender baby soap , a bit of Shay oil and I'm good. Get in shower wash face last . Rinse with hot water first and gradually make water cool to close your pours

For a cheapie try Aldi's own moisture cream...under a fiver &'beats a lot of expensive potions!
I slather it on at night & wear cotton gloves..in the mornings lovely smooth hands.
Try the Aesop range ££££ but it works also bodyshop hemp creams very good and under a tenner
Thk you
Coconut oil! My dermatologist recommended it for me to use head to toe.
Thk you
I use Sainsbury's baby sensitive vaseline, its only £1.50 and is a lot softer than normal vaseline. I put in on before I go to bed then put cotton gloves on and before I go out I put it on then put my gloves on. I also used it on my feet. It is a really soft vaseline and feels lovely when you rub it in.
My hands get very dry in the winter and begin splitting. Quite painful and can be a bit messy. I work a lot outside and can’t always wear gloves. I use O’Keefes hand cream. It’s not too greasy and works really well. Costs about £8 from Boots.
Epaderm emollient cream is great for my dry, eczema prone skin. You can get it at big chemists or ordered in. I get mine on prescription as slightly cheaper. I have sensitive skin but can just about manage the manuka honey hand and nail cream from dr organic (Holland and Barrett) - it's been the best hand cream for me. And of course gloves outside in this weather always!
Aveeno does the trick for me. Dr prescribed. It is non-perfumed so no chance of other problems arising from overiding smell either. 👍🏼
I found the only thing that helps my skin in winter is to make sure I'm taking enough Vitamin D. For instant relief when my hands are really dry and cracked I use a lotion that has no chemicals in it which irritate my skin more or like someone said above coconut oil is good. The simpler the better I find. Good luck, stay warm!
I get the cracking skin when to cold too and found most hand creams either stung like crazy or were too greasy. For me l’occitane hand cream worked. It’s flipping expensive but is very thick and creamy so doesn’t need a lot and my skin absorbs it brilliantly. I find I don’t have to reapply it as much as others. Takes a few days to help when they are at their worst but it’s my go to every time and I now use it enough to make sure the dry skin doesn’t start
For the dry skin, that things to for your hands is to get Shay oil. Believe it or not, lotions have perfume which inters contains alcohol and you are left reapplying constantly. If you. Want super soft hands, slather your hands with Shea butter and sleep with the gives on , keep them under your pillow( if you can. Take of the gloves and Walahl! Try taking a less hot shower. You can also try mineral oil or olive oil. I even suggest to a whole body moisturizing bath with, Lavender oil and olive oil.. available. At Walgreens.
Add milk to the bath.
Itchy dry skin?? Try oatmeal mixed with enough water to make a paste..add olive oil( not vergin)
Working Hands by O’Keefes- I’ve gone through loads and this is the only one that’s actually worked for me. My hands have gone from dry and bleeding to lovely and soft after a few days use. I’m so pleased with it and was a fiver or so from amazon.
Aveeno for dad-to-day use and when I need the extra moisture I mix glycerin and Rose Water into the cream. You can also spray the glycerin and rose water on your face for extra moisture and a dewy glow. Good luck.
Thk you
Thk you so much for your replies alot of info. 😊
I used Diprobase (prescribed) but slowly my skin got worse. Aveeno is great but very expensive. A friend bought me Nivea Soft (tub) and I haven’t looked back. Face improved in no time. Wilkos have good offers on it. Good luck
