Any suggestions please I’m itching so much and don’t know what would help! Can’t get to the doctors at the moment so wondered if anyone has any good suggestions? I’m desperate 😢

MissFG,

I too itch like mad and shower twice a day, keeps the skin clean and the have to moisturise all over, I use Cetraben, which is an emollient cream, but any simple moisturiser will do if good for sensitive skin, Cetraben is quite expensive but I get it on prescription. Try not to scratch the skin, sometimes I use a soft flannel if the itching gets bad in the daytime.

Hope this helps.

Think I’ll try antihistamines as showering makes it worse see if that helps. More pills 😩

I have my prescribed because they are stronger, only because the shop ones stop working. Always suffered with itchy skin but the hydroxychloroquine made it worse. Good luck my lovely xx

I’ll speak to my gp but I’m also hypothyroid so when my TSH is high my skin gets really dry but this itching I think is also the hydroxy and other meds’ I’m on but knew you’d all help on here rather than another forum x

Hi MissFG,

The Lupus Encyclopedia provides helpful tips and information on how to treat dry/itchy skin which is listed below:

•Take shorter baths and showers

•Do not use soap on most body surfaces, except underarms and private areas

•After bathing or showering, pat the skin dry; do not rub (rubbing removes moisturising oils)

•Avoid using fabric softeners. They irritate dry skin.

We published a blog article on coping with itchy rashes which you can read here: lupusuk.org.uk/coping-with-...

Please keep us updated, all the best.

Thank you I’ve been doing most of those already but I’ll try patting or drip dry lol see if that helps but it is when I have a bath or shower that makes it really bad x

Tbh it’s not long started since I’ve gone on Mycophenolate:( which is also making me feel really sick. Think I might have to try an alternative as I’m struggling on it! On hydroxy and I’ve been fine on that no problems x
