my tinnitus has got so loud lately. driving me mad!! got worse since I started taking steroids and hydroxy. anyone else noticed this problem if they had tinnitus already before being diagnosed with lupus?

Sorry to hear about your tinnitus getting so bad.

I have had this during my lifetime at different times but nothing serious.

But recently I have had it more frequently. It is not continuous. But it is very loud when it does happen.

I think Twitchytoes has posted about this too.

If you use the search facility above, typing tinnitus in, you might be able to filter it to Lupus UK posts only and see if anything helpful comes up.

I am due to see a Rheumy in London at the end of this month and I will be listing it in my issues to discuss. I'll let you know what gets said.

I too have tinnitus which is very loud in my right ear. I saw a ENT consultant a few week ago because of it and wax just in my right ear.

I couldn't have my ear syringed to remove the wax because it causes me to faint so the consultant remove it by suction. I then had a hearing test and was told I had no hearing loss in my left ear but my right ear I wasn't hearing low frequencies.

The problem wasn't solved about the Tinnitus because I had just had the wax removed I will have to go back in two months time.

Sorry to hear about the Tinnitus.

One of the side effects of taking steroids is Tinnitus. So perhaps that is why it has made it worse.

I do not have Tinnitus, but when I first became unwell I was put on Pred. Over the years I have found that when I flare and go above 10mg Pred on comes the Tinnitus. When I drop back below 10 again it switches off again. It is not a gradual switching off in my case, it's quite sudden.
