I may ask a silly question but how important it is to rest and sleep when not feeling well?I constantly feel guilty when I do.
Rest: I may ask a silly question but how important... - LUPUS UK
Rest
Hey Tulipano
Guilt over being sick is kind of ubiquitous, isn't it? But I think you know the answer to your question!
It is very important that you get adequate sleep and rest when you are unwell. Your body is telling you that you need rest to get well, and usually it knows what it is doing. There is good evidence that stress causes immune system problems.
With all the authority of my 103 years, I therefore order you to take it easy. Give yourself a break. Have a lie down. Take a nap. Have a lie in. And do not feel guilty. x
Hello Tulipano!
Rest is important whenever you are ill, it is especially so when you have auto immune or chronic illness. I understand feeling guilty, just do what you can either round the home or work wise and don't push your self too much otherwise you'll be more tired later!
Do what's best for you If you are suffering from fatigue a lot maybe talk to your doctor.
Couldn’t be more relevant for me seeing this post, I’ve had a heavy couple of days working and thought I’d catch up on my private client work over these next couple of days...however, only one hour in yesterday and I started to have tingling down left arm and chest pain on left side... rather worrying and to some degree embarrassing, client had to pack up my things for me and had to text her when I got home cos she was very worried.
Today I have no energy, feel really guilty letting people down but I’m having to keep telling myself my health has to come first...
I agree with whisperit LKH76.. ...from my many years of experience trying to be superman/woman gets you nowhere,
When you feel bad...rest ...& if you don't pick up after a couple of days, either see your GP or at least talk to Rheumy nurse
Think about it.......easiest way to lose clients is to let them down isn't it?
Rest is very important I know how you feal "guilty "of being ill don't we can't help it
I'm innocent of the crime of resting when I need it. Feeling guilty doen't make me better! Seriously, if you need it, and can do it, rest, rest, rest. Resistance is futile.
Sorry, in a silly mood today x
Join the Club! I am just 70 - always been very very active - diagnosed with Lupus and Sjogren's last year! Been sole carer last 5 years for husband with COPD - AND I FEEL GUILTY AND THINK I AM LAZY. Am only just learning to stop and listen to my body and not overdo it.
How lucky are the people who post on here about "Rheumy Nurse" - I live in Surrey and I don't have anyone apart from an overwrought GP - discharged from all Consultants and left to get on with it.
