Abscess

Hello everyone not been on here for a while can anybody give advice on Abscesses I keep getting them under my arms and several lots of antibiotics don't work so they end up sending me to hospital ,I have now got one down below are these related to my lupus xx☹️

Hello Yozzer,

On my recent stay in hospital Swollen Lymph Nodes were one of the issues the Rheumy and Heama team investigated. Though I had found one, they went on to find several more including on both sides of my groin. Eventually a biopsy was taken from the one in my armpit.

Swollen glands our bodies response to many causes including fighting infection, however Lupus from what I'm reading and understanding doesn't really feel the need to give a reason and will trigger this response at any moment.

Hopefully your care team will want to investigate-which mine did through X-ray, ultrasound,CT scan and biopsy. Though it sounds sinister they were keen not to immediately diagnose and start treatment in the event they would destroy cells they needed to investigate further.

I hope you get help for this. I have a friend with the same problem, which is very unpleasant because they need to be excised and drained then take some time to heal. In her case she does not have lupus. With lupus, anything can be related though.

Is it just lupus u have?? Or any other conditions? Some others can make u more prone.

Also I know bit too personal but shaving can cause issues with ingrowing hairs and cause abscesses.

I have all the other symptoms of lupus yes I know these can be caused by shaving etc but I'm getting them to often I've had 4 under my arm and antibiotics don't seem to work but first time I have had one down below .

The cyst I had on my back (it was huge) was actually a precursor to my dx of RA as it got so big so quickly and wouldn't heal. The hospital thought I was just making a fuss but it was such a mess afterward I finally got someone to get me into rheumatology with loads of bloods done. I was flaring. Are you on any medication to keep things under wraps? Have you let your specialists know?

I'm on Hydroxychloroquine 400mg daily but only Been on them 7 months as newly diagnosed I have my next apt with specialist in sept I have been to my go and got antibiotics 😢
