I've switched tablets from metho to azathioprine around 4 weeks ago. I'm feeling rather run down at the moment so I know it hasn't fully kicked in yet, but on top of the side effects I kind of expected, I am super hungry basically all the time, but also feeling really nauseous. Usually I would just eat as normal but at the moment I go light headed and feel more nauseous if I don't. I am on prednisone too but have been for a year and a half so I doubt it's those. Anyone else had similar to this?
Switched methotrexate to azathioprine and am now ... - LUPUS UK
Switched methotrexate to azathioprine and am now always hungry?!
You may need to get something to protect your stomach such as lanzoprozol, all of those could be irritating your stomach lining, certainly did with me and that's the first sign, also make sure they give you coated prednisolone. Also don't take them on empty stomach. X
I agree, it could be some gastritis... or your body is reacting to the lack of methotrexate. I'm on MTX and my stomach feels queasy most of the time, some days I feel no hunger until I start with a meal... my guess is my appetite will return once I stop the MTX (someday ).
Be well!
Hi, I only ever get this excessive hunger when I have to up my steroid dose. I've been on 5mg maintenance dose about 9 yrs and up them to 15-20mg for a flare up and I eat tons! Usually cereals coco pops or crunchy nut cornflakes like an entire box in 2 days along with my other meals! So I hate increasing them, I've just reduced them back down and have now got to try lose the pounds!
