I have thrombophilia (protein C deficiency) and have been on Warfarin for 32 years having had numerous DVT s and PEs. Warfarin will not prevent your having blood tests for Lupus. I've had lots. Perhaps they mean that they cannot test your blood lupus related clotting problems. I know that there are tests for some blood problems which cannot be tested for whilst you are taking warfarin but it doesn't effect SLE testing.
I wish I had the answer but I don't... Swollen ankles can be brought on by many reasons and suggest that you see your rheumy in order for him/her to evaluate. I started with achilles heels and shortly after developed tendonitis. I have a swollen pouch that seems to be filled with fluid. Also I get swelling on both feet around my ankle bones. Every day is different for me. Sometimes swelling can be very bad and other times it seems to quiet down... When I see my rheumy I am hoping that when she sends me for an mri that the test will show something... My cardiologist wants to see me in order to rule out a heart problem...
Are you currently just under the care of your GP or are you being seen by a rheumatologist. If you are not being seen by a rheumatologist then you should seek a referral to one for further investigations.
