Old chickenpox scars itchy
Hi my mum has shingles at the moment (so my wife has me in isolation haha) people say you can't get chicken pox or shingles once you've had them not so I've had chicken pox 3 times up to the age of 15 and I've had shingles 3 times between 18/20 may be due to this immune thingy?but you can still get pain or a tingling from the scars I get sharp Ian's in my eye I got ophthalmic shingles with rash in my scalp I'm 48 soon and still get the pain when I'm run down hope thi helps
Shingles runs along a nerve line. which is why it is so painful. Chickenpox is the same virus. Its called post herpetic neuralgia. Its because of damage to the nerves. Mainly in shingles it causes pain , but I have heard in chicken pox it can cause itching. I had shingles four weeks ago. I have shooting pains still from back into my ribs and itching at the spot sights. I do hope its not permanent. You can get help from your GP.
I have had chicken pox as a child but no shingles as of yet. My mother has had it twice so I see it in my future. have either of you had the shingles vaccine? I'm interested in your post because I also have itchy inflamed scar tissue. Mine weren't from chicken pox but from having skin cancer removed. I've been diagnosed with Sjogren's and RA and from time to time my skin seems to get really inflamed and my scars will be red and sensitive. My Rheumy says that isn't a symptom of sjogren's or RA. Could it be a different type of auto immune?
