The last two weeks I have been itchy, especially my legs. No change in meds, any ideas?

Itchy
Hi, it may be wise to see your GP, only because itchiness can be a sign of kidney problems. Please DO NOT think this is the case, I only mention it as my Mum had itchiness and it was related to Her kidneys.
Again please don't this is the reason, it is just a thought.
Take care, Sandy
It can be caused by a number of things - you could have developed a sudden allergy to something you've eaten, to an existing drug, to detergent/shampoo/conditioner/skin cream, or your gallbladder isn't emptying properly, or your blood vessels are inflamed making your skin feel as if pinpricked, which triggers the itch.
If it is still persisting tomorrow, I'd take an antihistamine until I can see the gp and ask him/her to do some blood tests.
Are you on hydroxychloroquine? I have this and it makes me very itchy. I didn't start itching straight away it was a number of months until it built up in my system. I'm on a lot of meds and I'm very itchy most of the time but more first thing in the morning. I do only have one kidney and yes when that has a bad spell my itching increases but it's worth looking at your meds side effects to see if any of them make you itch. Some of them need to be in your system a long time before the side effects kick in.
If you get free prescriptions ask them for antihistamines to counteract it or you can buy piriton over the counter. That should help.
I get this too and wondered what it was! Do u get itchy around your bone areas? (Sounds mad I know!) but my ankles are so itchy and on my fingers one night I must have been stratching them in my sleep and woke up in the morning and it was bleeding! I just assumed it was something else. But maybe it's yet another symptom.
Xxx
Last month, I got terrible itching on my arms, neck and scalp, not on my legs though. Blood test showed my liver was high on sugar, advice to stop drinking for a month ( only one or too mix drinks on the weekend) and have liver test again. So far, the itching is calming down. You may need your doctor runs a blood test to see what wrong. In the mean time, temporary take some benadryl until see your doctor.
Good luck
Obviously do see gp and mention, but also ask for diprobase cream and apply before and after showering. I'm exhausted by the end but really helps with my itching.Hope. This helps.
I get this below the knee on both legs don't have a clue what causes it I use a cooling cream or savlon
I itch a lot - hands, frets, ankles, head and most of all, legs below the knee. I have been known to make myself bleed by itching. I know I shouldn't but I just can't help myself, it's unbearable. I use the moisturiser the doctor gave me - Cetraben and sometimes holland and Barrett Manuka honey cream/lotion.
