Just wanted to remind you that Hydroxy is not going to work overnight, can take several months before you can appreciate the improvements. I just don't want you to give up on it too soon because of your concern about your eyes.
I have problems with tablets weather painkillers or meds . After about a week of taking a tablet I start to feel very sick in the mornings and that makes me not want to eat .
I always take my Hydroxy after eating my breakfast. I have always been a breakfaster, but having to take pill is my excuse everyday no matter where we are, lol.
I am the same with taking anything. All the pills make me feel so rough. I am currently trying to increase my hydroxy I take 1 at night at the moment as they make me sleep. Tried to take whole pill but kept sleeping all day. I am now increasing it slowly. I have cut the pill into quarters and take 1and a 1/4 each night. Hope this works do I can take two at night eventually 😘 Good luck with taking them 😘
There's a great lecture on YouTube by Dr Stephen Soloway on Lupus, and there is a very reassuring section on hydroxochloroquine and eyes in it it that help.
I wasn't allowed to start the hydroxychloroquine until I had been for an eye test. When I had my eyes tested I was told you need to be on quite a high dose before they get really worried about it affecting the eyes. I'm on 2 a day which I take at night with my dinner and all my other pills. I take one set of tablets am and a different lot at night, morning lot can be taken without food and evening lot have to be taken with food.
How are you getting on? I take my tablet with a small glass of milk after breakfast. The hydroxy took a year to really work for me, very slow! But I think I'd been flaring the whole of 2013 and really needed more help to shift that than just 2 x 200mg hydroxy! But hindsight is a wonderful thing. Hydroxy made my tummy rumbly for a few weeks, noisey gurgles etc but that did settle down. Good luck. X
