Have you had your thyroid checked or do you have Hypothyroidism, which for many is another autoimmune disease that co-exists with Lupus and other rheumatic diseases? If you already have this then have you had your bloods checked to make sure that you are on optimum dosage of thyroid replacement? If you haven't been tested or diagnosed then this might provide A reason for weight gain. That said, I'm hypothyroid and have Sjogrens rather than Lupus - and I'm putting on weight despite being in quite a lot of pain often and eating a very nutritious diet. Some people just have to try much harder than others to maintain a healthy weight - I'm definitely one of them. It's not fair but it's life!
I'm with twitchytoes. I have SLE and SJogrens Syndrome and also hypothyroid.
The first thing I thought of was hypothyroidism. Autoimmune disease can attack the thyroid making it less effective. If you are hypo, and not on medication (or not optimally medicated) then that could be the cause of your weight gain.
Yes. Once you get all of your autoimmune stuff in check, your endocrinologist can help with the weight. Mine recently gave me a very low dose of Contrave to throw everything back in balance and it has worked! I've lost 6 lbs in two weeks w no changes or additional side effects.
