Our ‘Topic of the Month’ in August will be, ‘Itchy Rashes'

Many people with lupus may have skin problems, and a rash may be the first sign of the condition for some.

We’d really love to hear if you have any tips for coping with itchy rashes. Have you found a good way to sooth the itch? Do you have any good advice for preventing rashes from flaring up? Perhaps you had a rash and you want to share a photo.

We would like to hear all of your tips and experiences and we’ll compile them at the end of the month for an article. Please share in the comments section below, or email paul@lupusuk.org.uk

The article itself will be posted on the LUPUS UK Blog at lupusuk.org.uk/category/blog/

All submissions will be anonymised.

Recently as well as using the antihistamines, creams and steroid creams from the doctors I've found another product that has helped calm down the itching.

For those of you in the UK I purchased from QVC shopping channel from their beauty range called SBC and its a Vitamin E Gel. The smell is just beautiful and that alone makes me want to use it. But I've noticed when I use it there is a calmness on my arms, rather than a fuzzy charge running through them.

I have put this gel everywhere, arms legs and trunk and I now have beautifully soft skin also.

This hasn't taken the itch away completely, but it definitely has helped me.

Hi Just looked up the SBC website sbcgels.co.uk/Skincare-Coll... if you want to buy SBC direct, looks very interesting, thanks Georgie for the tip, may help with some of my dry skin as well.

Hi Maggie,

I hope it helps you as much as its helped me.

I should think it will be ideal for your dry skin, my skin just drinks it up. I have also purchased this range from eBay too, so there's plenty of shopping around to get the cheapest price. I hope you love the smell too as that makes me want to use it.

Good luck with it.

Xxx

diagnosed with psoriasis and psoriatic spondylitis after a horrible flare with lower back pain. if there's a history of psoriasis in your family do not allow doctors tell you for years that you have eczema like mine did. I was told for years not to worry. and if you're the type like me that cannot handle the sun and develop rashes after being in it definitely take vitamin D.

I tried to upload a photo but I can not, I get small reddish purple almost bruise like bumps? They only attack my legs, and literally appear within a blink of an eye. Sometimes they're almost like welts, but most of the time small bumps on my legs and even sometimes my bottom breaks out in the same bumps. I take a shower and that seems to soothe it. I'm am undiagnosed at the moment waiting to see a specialist

Hi Jtrowers ,

Unfortunately it isn't possible to upload photos in comments, but you could create a new post and upload a photo there.

Good luck with your specialist appointment, I hope that they can diagnose you and start some treatment if necessary.
