Hi there!

My name is Cheryl and I am from Canada! I came across your group while searching for some medical information and started reading the posts. The site comes across as informative and up to date as well as caring, supportive, and empathetic.

Obviously I won't be able to make it to any of your local support group meetings, but I think I will learn alot from your wealth of knowledge and vast personal experience that you all share right here. I am also here to offer my support and friendship, as well as answer any questions about my experiences with lupus and its concurrent conditions I've had to deal with over the past 15 years. There have been many!!!!!!

I am an open book so don't be shy!

Thank you!

Cher(yl) :)

Welcome Cheryl;

You will find that this Commuinty is helpful & supportive. We share our issues, if we have something new to happen or come up that we have not had with Lupus, we ask to see if any of our friends here has had anything like it. We share what we have been told by our doctors. We also share some of our good days and what we did. You will find this site helpful, and you can give us your experiences with Lupus to help us. We sometimes ask embarrassing questions, but we need to now is it just me or has anyone else had an issue like this.

Now a little about myself, I am a guy, my wife Laura and I have been married for 35 years, we have 3 grown children and 5 Grandchildren. I also, like you can not attend any of the functions and or support groups in the UK. I live in the southeastern part of the U.S. in Alabama. I have Lupus, COPD, & malignant hypertension. I have a rash on my right foot, it has been there for 2 years (I have photos on my home page) I have had to go barefoot for that long also. Now the bottom of my feet are so tough, I can walk on any type surface hot asphalt, cement, & rocks and or gravel. I have been barefoot for so long that is feels natural and now even if I could wear shoes I think I would still go barefoot. Thus Barnclown (Coco) from this site gave me the name 👣"The Barefoot Gardener"👣. I love to be in the garden. I have about an 1/2 acre garden. I also love to fish. Yes, both of those require being out in the sun.

I have lupus rashes a lot, I know most of is my own doing. I love being outside. Being from the south we get a lot of sun and hot weather. Yesterday it was in the mid 90's ( Fahrenheit). I refuse to let Lupus control my life, I will do what ever I want to do. I will put up with the consequences, but I refuse to stop enjoying life. I have several issues with lupus but, I just keep going.

Again welcome to our little internet family.

LIVE LIFE TO IT'S FULLEST!
