Hi, while in hospital for another issue, a surgeon asked if I'd ever been tested for SLE? As he'd read my notes, I said no although my sister has had lupus for many yrs. I saw my gp who referred me to a rheumatologist who clinically diagnosed me but wanted me have heaps of blood tests. Just got a copy of letter rheumy sent my gp and says I have a strong ANA test and diagnosed me with Lupus. All seems a little overwhelming.....

Hi..Do you know what your lab test were and what they read?? Overwhelmed too..waiting for Reumy apt in a week after Doctor did same thing..
Not yet, I saw rheumy about 4 weeks ago and had tests done, just got a copy of letter he sent to gp saying I tested strongly positive for ANA. Go ogling it seems to indicate it's a high reading of ANA, think it's low+ positive ++ strong+++. I'll keep you informed when I go and see him again and get a copy of blood tests, Good luck with your rheumatologist appointment x

Welcome to the community. I'm sorry that you've just received this overwhelming news. Lupus is usually manageable with treatment. A diagnosis can be a good thing because it enables you to start treatment and helps you to understand what is going on.
