Hello,

I had an appt with my rheumatologist on 22/12/15, and I request to try to reduce my medication after blood test which was good, anyone know that how long does the pills works after decrease dosage from 400mg to 200mg daily? I noticed that I start lose hair recently (2 ~2.5weeks). I had hypothyroidism, sjorgren and Reynolds.

Hi Vambat,

Did your Rheumatologist tell you it was okay to cut back on your medication? What medication are you taking? When you say that you start to lose hair, do you mean you started losing hair about two weeks ago?

George

Hi George,

Yes, I am the one requested and he agreed to try and will see me in 4 months time. I am taking Quinoric hydroxychloroquine 200mg and Levothyroxine 75mg.

Yes, I started losing hair about 2 weeks ago.

I have lupus sle and was prescribed hydro, took it for two years, think it helped with the fatigue more than anything, have come off it now but have made sure all my other vitamins and minerals are top of the range and more.

the hair falling out is a classic hypo thyroid symptom, you must not reduce your levo meds without your gp or endos consent, rhmy won't be looking at this. have your thyroid bloods checked soon. you sound under medicated.

weg1,

You are right, I gathered all my symptom in these few months and see my GP telluing him what I suffered before added with chest pain twice and exyremely cold feet, knee pain, dry mouth and skin, swinging mood.  Now he sent me for blood test, ultrasound and ECG, might consider vitamin D if theres a need.  Hope problem will solve soon.

Hi Weg1,

Thanks for pointing that out for me, I didn't reduce my levi med, actually I don't have any regular visit with my GP, so never have a chance to talk about it. I only had my TSH blood test when I have to do my SLE blood test. Last blood test on 12/12/15 TSH 1.02

Do I have to take vitamins and minerals if I reduce my HCQ, or it depends on your health?

I was always questioned myself whether my lupus caused by the patches , cos I had read a passage about ppl who took HRT might induce lupus.

Not what you're looking for?
