We all know that we experience knee problems with lupus . What I would really like to know is how do people manage it ? Do you use strapping as support? Do you change medication ? Is an X-ray really necessary ? Are you able to continue with work ? Thank you

Knee problems
Hello. I got referred for X-rays of both knees this year (after moaning for a while) and the report came back - no action required. But my rheumatologist examined me and said she can feel osteoarthritis in both knees. I know I definitely have it in my hips as I have had MRI scans of both hips and hip op on left side too. So anyway, discussed with GP. He said X-rays only show up advanced/extreme arthritis. So really a waste of time for me. I have been referred by rheumy for physio for knees - due to start tomorrow- but getting very bad back pain for last two days as well. I find it very confusing as they say only rheumatoid arthritis is linked to Lupus - yet the orthopaedic surgeon who did my hip operation says the lupus will make my osteoarthritis worse - due to inflammation. I have taken co-codomol tonight. Oh and was referred to podiatry last year. I am slightly flat footed and have background hyper mobility - rather than have insoles she said I could help myself by not wearing flat shoes (ballet pumps went to the charity shop) and ideally a small heal of 1-2 inches would work. Helps but hasn't eliminated pain completely. I have actually posted about my backache today. How old are you? I'm 41 but feel much older! Sore and aching body - I end up stiff and bent over like an old woman if I stand for too long or heaven forbid I need to use the guillotine at work! I will follow your post with interest for tips! Best wishes.
