I assume you mean the rheumatology consultant? Those appointments are usually set depending on your needs and the activity of your lupus. So, if everything is quiet and manageable then the timing would be longer than if there's lots of activity and new things happening. The consultant should write to your GP after every appointment with an update, and you should have a copy of that letter - a bit late if you had your appointment today but perhaps you could suggest that to him. Also if there is a specialist lupus nurse attached to that clinic, she/he is usually a good conduit if you have additional questions. Good luck.
I have never received a copy of a letter that has been sent to my GP. Heard people taking about a health care plan between their GP and rhemo doc but not any chat with mine about this plan. Due to see him in 2 months again as I was unwell the last day I seen him so hopefully nect time I will get a good chat with him.
I was diagnosed in 2009-10 maybe but i was bad off and had to see him every month, then as i got better it went to 6 weeks and as of today its every 3months. I guess it depends on your doctor and how you are feeling. I think its good you want to see him/her sooner you should ask if you can come once a month until you feel comfortable. Purple
I just feel if there not keeping an eye on my bloods levels etc then would it be too late again as I took kidney problems b4 and just don't want to go down this route again. Seeing him in 2 months again hopefully get a good chat to him then.
If you need to see your Rheumy earlier you can ring the clinic and ask to be put on a cancellation list. I've done this and been lucky. Also you could ask your GP to write to the Consultant telling him how poorly you are and asking to be seen. Good luckX
