Hospital s where do people go
Many of the private consultants at the London Lupus centre, London Bridge Hospital also practice at St Thomas NHS
I'm under the Rheumatology team at University College Hospital.
Hi limerick, I used to go to st Thomas's, but it is a long way from home. I still had a local rheumy too. Luckily, my st t's rheumy now works at my local hospital, so problem solved. Just to add, if you get to see a rheumy consultant, rather than their registrar, or a trainee, you should receive very good treatment.
One of the biggest mistakes I made was going down the private medicine route before & after my Lupus diagnosis. Even though I had private medical cover through my company, after about 18 months, I had a letter from the insurers saying that as my condition was not 'curable' and I would probably need treatment for life, they would not cover me any more. Unless you have unlimited funds to cover medical bills then avoid it - although the NHS is not perfect, I have had wonderful treatment at both Hammersmith Hospital and St Thomas's and cannot praise them enough for what they have done for me. Private doctors are great until you can't pay their over-priced fees, then they just don't want to know you. NHS rules!!
