Hi there flossy 1, I get a traditional malar rash on my face regularly, especially when in sunlight, or when flaring. But it is always accompanied by a rash on my neck that is very very red! It does get sore, like I said in sunlight or when I'm really unwell. Stress would also bring on the same symptoms, it's easy for people to say to avoid stress, but life is stressful and unfortunately for us this is how our body responds.
I should mention it to your GP/Rheumy - if it comes and goes take a picture to show them at its worst.
Take care
I have a rash on my scalp that has spread down my neck. I have burning on my face and left leg also. Its painful and very uncomfortable. At witsnend with pain to be honest
Not on my neck but a bright red face that burns...unpleasant and uncomfortable but it passes
My version of this is more like slowmo's. I vvvv much agree with her advice, which I've been following for years before my Lupus treatment begn 2.5 yrs ago. I avoid stress, avoid sun &plants & bugs, and i avoid stimulants eg caffeine & sugars. I also am ultra cautious about applying creams etc, cause I seem to get rashes from the fillers etc in mny products...which makes using sunblock v tricky.....and, now I'm doing well on mycophenolate, I have to find a strong sunblock my skin cn tolerate....argh
Take care
Hi flossy1,
before my plaquenil kicked in I got that quite a lot but it was on my chest not my neck and it looked like nasty sunburn. When I'm flaring I get the butterfly rash which can stay for days and it burns. Are you taking any meds for lupus?
Yes I do , it's like a shingle type rash !!! And very painful after a shower or water .
I have same as you and JJKane. I have to say that mycophenolate seems to control it as well as my other symptoms quite well.
I get dry, itchy and burning all over all the time E45 cream helps a little my shins drive me mad at times. I have mentioned this time and time again to my Doctor, so he sent me to a Dermatologist who couldn't see anything wrong, they did ask another colleague who said some syndromes can do this, and that was that didn't offer any treatment or creams.
Sorry for my late reply, I am very grateful for all your replies. I have just finished a course of antibiotics for a urinary tract infection which went to my kidneys. So feeling unwell! Sezzie asked was I being treated - I take hydroxy.
