prescriptions
hi there .you don't say what your situation is.are you on benefits?if you have to pay for them and have several every month it is better to buy a pre payment certificate.they are £104 for a year which can be paid by monthly dd or quarterly.htis is what I have.
What is your condition? If you have thyroid issues you are entitled to have a medical exemption. Some benefits exempt you from prescription charges too.
You didn't say whether you are working or on benefits. If you are on a low income you can either get complete exemption with a HC2 certificate or partial help with HC3. I had a HC2 when I was on income support. To find out if you are entitled you need to complete a HC1 form and send it off to the address on the form. You can obtain the HC1 form from your dentist, opticians, chemists or doctors surgery or ring the benefits office and ask them to send you one. There are some illnesses with automatic exemption, unfortunately lupus is not one of them. If you are on ESA you are exempt from paying.
hi you said in your reply to claradias if you are on ESA you are exempt from paying.how does thta work because on the old incapacity benefit it didnt entitle you to free prescriptions?
Under the old incapacity benefit you were not entitled, but could get a HC2/3 to help with the cost. Now if you are in receipt of income-related ESA you get free prescriptions. Just tick the box "H" at the back of your prescription. However, I am not sure what happens if you are in receipt of contributory ESA, perhaps you may need to apply for a HC2/HC3, best to contact the benefits office in this case.
I just quit my job recently coz i can cope anymore with the stress and the bad management of the place. I started to get sick more often that i never had b4. I have systemic lupus since my 15 years ols (im 29 yo now) basicaly afecting me more in the joints (sweling, pain) and fatigue, but had the traditional rash long time ago.
