Hi ya,
Just thought I'd ask how your meeting with HR went? I've been going through that at work later myself. Might be able to give you some advice or info.

My work arranged for me to see an Occupational health specialist. They made recommendations. All fluorescent bulbs were removed. I got a specially adapted roller keyboard to replace mouse, a desk with wider legroom, a new supportive chair, disabled parking space, any time of sick with lupus related issues was not included as total sickness days and they adapted my working hours. That said, after I only lasted another year after that before it became impossible to sustain and I stopped working.
It went ok I suppose, we mostly discussed how my symptoms affect me, my taking time off for doctor’s appointments and my lateness but we didn’t really come up with much of a conclusion
Hi I had a similar meeting ages ago myself. Lets face it all you can ask is for things to make you more comfortable, like the post above - check out Access to work - search it they can provide funds towards any additional costs your company may have to face, they only get involved if you approach them but they can come and do a workplace assessment and make suggestions for you
Do they have an occupational health contact at all they can send you to for more professional advice? You should be protected under equality act so your employer should make reasonable adjustments, such as providing you time off for appointments. There is also some great advice from the Business Disability Forum on non-visible disabilities which might be helpful for you - businessdisabilityforum.org....
my manager referred me to occ health, they did a telephone assessment and then a report to him. The conclusion was for a work station assessment, hospital appointments, physio etc all to be allowed, and sick leave not to be included in triggers etc. Also recommended counselling to help me come to terms with having a long term medical condition. As a result I have a desk lamp, so that I am working in a pool of light rather than an overhead one and a footrest. Just waiting to try out a new chair also. My manager now also asks how I get on after every hospital appointment, rather than just ignoring it before.
In my experience getting HR and occ health involved can really work to your advantage if you are really suffering. I do not feel half as stressed out about my illness at work, now they know it is a very real condition.
I work part time(as a teacher) and have asked when they do the timetable to try and avoid 3 days in a row, to give as much notice as possible for longer working days like parents eve, to be excused from break time and lunch time duties as I need the breaks and to get a protective screen for computer for the lights.
