Hi summer. I would get this checked out as soon as you can. Purple bruising that isn't caused by banging into something etc

should be seen by a GP especially if presenting with other new symptoms. I have a little personal experience of this. Could be as simple as a reaction to something but get it checked. Hope you ok otherwise.

Hi, I get loads of unexplained bruises that last for months on my legs and arms. I have lupus and hughes, my rheumy told me it's just my meds on mmf, mepacrine and plaquinel and steroids.

hope this helps

Steroids thin the blood - and skin for that matter - making one bruise more easily. My skin has become so thin it now peels off in strips if I accidentally knock myself (which is becoming quite a worry)!

Hiya, i too get uneplained bruising. I am newly diagnosed to sle lupus but mild form. I get alot on my thighs and legs. The other day i was taking a shower and i watched before my eyes a small purple bruse appear! How strange is that? I knew i hadn't knocked myself and the water pressure is gentle! I too don't understand. I will keep an eye on your updates on your posts, to see if anyone has an answer to that. Hope you get your answers. :-)

Ps i am not on steroids just Hydroxychloroquine.

im no longer on steroids too, just nsaids

Hi. I have had awful bruising (unexplained) appearing mainly on my feet and legs but really they can appear anywhere. I also get red marks which do not go away again they appear mainly on my feet and legs and are very ugly. I know age doesn't help (am 68) but these marks are not normal. I have managed to stay off steroids and am not on warfarin. I have SLE and understand that the marks are indicative of auto immune disease but would be interested in any other information. Gabs.
