According to that article, proton pump inhibitors such as lansoprazole reduce the efficacy of Clopidogrel.

Hope this helps!

Many thanks maggie for your kind response. That is whay I was confused. If you notice I responded to Richard and i think i must talk to my cardiologist on this as i am not happy to risk the effect of clopidogrel which is responsible for curing the stent procedure .

Hi.

I had a couple of stents fitted three years ago. A few months later I was finally diagnosed with Vasculitis (HUV so similar to Lupus). I was put on Omeprazole (which I think is very similar to Lansoprazole) to help with all the steroids etc. But after discussion with my Cardiologist and GP we switched to Ranitidine instead. That's worked fine for me and I've not had any stomach problems.

Might be worth asking your consultants whether this would be appropriate for you instead.

Regards,

Richard.

Dear Richard

Many thanks for your response. As you suggested I will talk to may cardilogist soon. I also talked to my GP last night and she said that the compatibity issue between Clopidogrel and lansoprazole is very contraversial, but recently they have confirmed these two dont have negative effect on each other. However , since it is very important for me to take the clopidogrel after stenting so it is better to choose safer option on the acid reflux one.
